Welcome to Thailand - The Land of Smiles and Cheap Travel Thailand is known as the land of smiles, which is amazing considering the traffic jams in Bangkok. For budget travelers, Thailand simply can't beat on price alone. Thailand Thailand is an odd mix of contrasts. It can be extremely stressful while trying to get around in Bangkok and gloriously relaxing while laying on practically any of the beaches that populate the coast of the country. Regardless of the situation, the Thais have a habit and custom or smiling regardless of what you ask or how you ask it.

The North Infatuated with the beach life, many people fail to head up country when in Thailand. This is a mistake as the north is the host to such locations as the city of Chang Mai, the Summer Palace of the King of Thailand and interesting little villages. For the outdoor enthusiasts, rafting, hiking and mountain biking are very popular and widely available.

Beaches The beaches of Thailand need no introduction. Used as the setting for hundreds of movies, they come in a variety of styles. The beaches of Phuket and Phi Phi fall along the lines of traditional beach resort areas like you might find in a place such as Cancun, Mexico or Tamarindo, Costa Rica. On the other end of the scale, you can find more rustic beach areas in places like the island of Ko Chang where you'll have a few beach bungalows, a couple of bars and one or two stores. If you're looking for a little of both styles, just ask around.

Koh Samui One of the most popular island travel destinations in Asia is - Koh Samui which is the third largest island in Thailand.Samui is similar to Phuket in a lot of ways, but the island is smaller and there are less people and tourists here. There are many fine resorts and hotels in Samui and most of them are located either right on the beach, or not too far away. Many of the hotels and resorts in Samui are for people who want to come here to relax and you will find these all around the island. There are some hotels around the Chaweng Beach area that specifically cater for young party people who want to have a good time and these hotels even organize transportation to the Full Moon Party which is located on the neighboring Koh Phangan. You will see many young people partying at all hours of the day and night in the lead up to the party which is held once per month.Koh Samui has some wild nightlife in the Chaweng Beach area with many bars, pubs and nightclubs that aim to please single males who are looking for a good time and the main area is called Soi Mango. There are your usual bar girls here that will pounce on you as you walk past and try to lure you into their bar.In comparison to Phuket, the nightlife scene in Samui is much smaller but still big enough to keep any single male happy. There is an international airport at Koh Samui and the set up and style of the airport is totally unique with hut style roofing and terminals that have no walls and this gives the airport a tropical feel.So if your considering a nice holiday with beautiful scenery and fantastic weather, then Samui is well recommended.Travel guide to Koh Samui Thailand

Koh Phangan Island Koh Phangan Island, Holiday DestinationThe Island of Koh Phangan , in the warm crystal waters of the Gulf of Thailand, a mountain peak submerged by the seas over thousands of years;eaving behind tropical paradise island. The interoir rainforest canopy covers vast tracks, the coastline dotted with sandy bays, fringed with coconut plantations and edged with granite headlands. The nearest island is Koh Samui which is larger and more developed, to the north is Koh Toa a dive mecca, Koh Phangan is around 37km from the mainland of Thailand and is accessable from Koh Samui in less than thirty minutes..There are several old temples on the island that date back to over six hundred years, in fact new temples are still being built today as the island prospures from tourism and funds are made available to the temples. The traditional way of life and strong village community have remained on Koh Phangan despote is ride in fortunes and developement for tourism. The main sights on koh Phangan are viewpoints, waterfalls and national parks, providing a cool day trip under the jungle canopy trekking and exploring. There is little of anything that could pose a risk in the jungle, the main consideration is to take plenty of water.Activities on the Island include watersports, elephant treks, island safari tours and shopping. Eating out is alwats fun in Thailand and on Koh Phangan its no different, the night market in Thong Sala has some excellent local thai dishes and all the favourites in an open air night market. The town also has many restauarants to choose from as do the other villages around the island. The accommodation on this resort island ranges from small inexpensive huts to mid star luxury hotels. Most of the beaches have a good range of accommodation to suit all budgets. The villas for rent at Dee Dee come highly reccommended if your looking for a self catering holiday house on Koh Phangan, good for families or groups. There is no airport on koh phangan which has kept the island quite, the boat services are good and run three times a day from Koh Samui which does have an Airport. Alternitavly there is also an airport in Suratthani but it is a much longer trip from there to Koh Phangan and not an advisable route. Major asian hubs connect to the Koh Samui Airport such as Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Prices If you're on a budget, Thailand is a perfect travel destination. For some reason, flights to Thailand are particularly cheap with my recent flight on Korean Airlines running roughly $650 round trip. Once in country, your money will go a long, long way.
